It is imperative that NNPs are aware of the implications of excessive shift length, especially 24-hour shifts. It is NANNP's position that NNPs, like other healthcare providers, are susceptible to the negative effects of fatigue and sleep deprivation. NNPs are professionally accountable and as such are responsible for minimizing any risk to patient and personal safety.
