Carol Polinski, MS RN APN NNP-BC, is the current president of the Chicago Area Association of Neonatal Nurses and is an NNP at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago, Loyola University Medical Center/Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital in Maywood, Illinois, and Aurora Healthcare in Kenosha and Oconomowoc, WI. She has published journal articles on a wide range of topics, including congenital diaphragmatic hernia, late-onset sepsis, early recognition of congenital heart disease, and major causes of bilious emesis. Carol is passionate about providing the best possible care to the patients and families she serves. Her nominator wrote, "She is not afraid to ask important questions related to patient management and is more than willing to help in finding solutions that improve aspects of care." |

Kristine Karlsen is an NNP at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT, but she is best known as the founder and national director of the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program. The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program was developed to meet the educational needs of healthcare providers who must stabilize newborns who become ill and require specialized care. S.T.A.B.L.E. education is critical to the mission to reduce infant mortality and morbidity and to improve the future health of children and their families. More than 190,000 students have completed the program, and more than 33,000 students complete a learner or provider S.T.A.B.L.E. course worldwide each year. Kristine is one of the few PhD-prepared NNPs in the country and one of an even smaller number who have had an impact on neonatal care worldwide. |

Patricia J. Johnson is a nationally recognized leader, educator, consultant, speaker, and expert in neonatal care. She was instrumental in the development of the NNP role, building one of the first NNP teams in a Level III nursery, and later developed an NNP certificate program at state and private universities. She has authored and coauthored articles, modules, and chapters on topics concerning neonatal care, including chapters in two editions of the Guidelines for Perinatal Care. She is a founder, past president, and board member of NANN and a charter member of NANNP. |
Laurie Roselli, MSN CRNP

Laurie Roselli has 15 years of experience in Level III neonatal units, and currently works as an NNP coordinator at University of California Davis Medical Center. There she developed a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Service, contributed to the hiring of additional NNPs, wrote and revised a standardized procedure manual for NNPs, and developed an affiliation with the University of California-San Francisco School of Nursing to mentor and precept NNP students. One of Laurie’s nominators observed, “This candidate has consistently filled critical gaps to ensure quality patient care and supervision. She is truly a team player.” Laurie continues to pursue her vision to sustain and promote the use of the full potential of NNPs within an ever-changing healthcare system. |
