The NNP Faculty Summit is held annually at NANN’s educational conference. The summit brings together advanced practice nurses and NNP program faculty to address issues of common interest, providing a forum for communication, collaboration, consensus building, leadership, and problem solving. Since its inception, the NNP Faculty Summit has addressed issues such as the doctor of nursing practice degree as requirement for entry into practice and revisions to the Education Standards and Curriculum Guidelines for NNP Programs. At the 2011 NNP Faculty Summit, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic discussion regarding the work of the Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, and Education (LACE) Work Group on implementing the Consensus Model for APRN Regulation. Registration for this event is free.
Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practical skills, the skills lab offers participants a structured learning environment in which to advance their knowledge and skills. The procedures demonstrated each year are chosen to align with the current needs of the neonatal nurse. Experts demonstrate and then assist participants with procedures such as umbilical-line insertion, chest-tube placements, lumbar punctures, and methods for preparing and performing an exchange transfusion. The skills lab is a half-day preconference session held at the NANN Annual Educational Conference.
The roundtable offers a rich networking environment in which new NNPs from across the country can discuss a variety of issues and challenges they face in their clinical practice and role transition. Led by a seasoned NNP, participants share their experiences, successes, and challenges in a supportive and nurturing environment. This networking session is free to NANN conference attendees.
The NANNP Business Meeting gives NANNP members and NNPs the opportunity to learn about current and emerging issues in advanced neonatal nursing practice. Led by national experts in the field, the business meeting brings together over 250 nurses to provide information on topics such as NNP competencies, NCSBN and NCC updates, the NNP nursing shortage, fatigue and safety, and regulatory and legislative affairs.
