NANNP Member Center
The National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP), a division of NANN, is the unifying voice of neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs). With a growing membership of more than 900 members, NANNP represents the national interests of the more than 4,000 NNPs in the United States. Because NANNP is a group member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), NANNP members also receive a $10 discount on dues for an individual full membership in AANP. NANN members who are NNPs have the opportunity to add NANNP to their NANN membership. You may join or renew your membership online or by printing out a membership application.
Free Resources for NANNP Members
In addition to the NANN member benefits, you will also receive the following NANNP Members-Only benefits:
- Neonatal Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition: A Resource Guide for the Student and Novice Neonatal Nurse Practitioner: This evidence-based tool (coauthored by Cheryl A. Carlson, PhD APRN NNP-BC, and Lee Shirland, MS APRN NNP-BC) helps student and novice NNPs order the most appropriate individualized nutrition for sick or premature infants in their care. All components of nutrition, including the starting and advancing of total parenteral nutrition, feedings, and calculations of kilocalories and fluids, are addressed and explanations provided.
- Understanding Clinical Research: A Practical Guide: This self-paced learning module, by Lee Shirland, MS APRN NNP-BC, and Suzanne Staebler, DNP APRN NNP-BC, is designed to familiarize you with the principles of conducting and using research. The module is divided into five sections: Foundations of Research, Research Design and Measurement, Statistical Analysis, Review of a Research Article, and Application of Learning. Nurses at all levels will find this information helpful and relevant, but it will be particularly valuable for the novice researcher. There are no prerequisites. The resource is free to NANNP members, and continuing nursing education contact hours are available for a modest fee.
- NANNP Business Meeting Presentations: The NANNP Business Meeting at NANN’s annual educational conference gives NANNP members and NNPs the opportunity to learn about current and emerging issues in advanced neonatal nursing practice. Led by national experts in the field, the meeting brings together more than 250 nurses and provides information on topics like NNP competencies; updates on activities of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Fetus and Newborn, the National Council of State Boareds of Nursing, and the National Certification Corporation; and developments in professional practice, such as the NNP nursing shortage, findings on fatigue and safety, and regulatory and legislative affairs. Recordings of these presentations are available at no cost to NANNP members.
- The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Team (Brochure for Parents): This customizable pamphlet is ideal for NNPs who need to educate parents on the role that the NNP will play in their child’s care. It provides an overview of the NNP’s role and value in the patient’s care. The pamphlet can be customized to include photos and biographical information about each NNP in the NICU.

- NNP Workforce Survey: During these times of tremendous change in the healthcare environment, NNPs must be able to accurately describe the characteristics of their workloads and practice sites. With this need in mind, NANNP conducted a national survey to obtain data for the first-ever, nationwide composite of the NNP workforce. Areas of focus are descriptive analyses of the workforce and comparative analyses in such areas as acuity, patient load, shift length, and type and size of NICU. An executive summary (free to NANNP members) and the full report will be available for purchase.
