Collaboration

American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on the Fetus and Newborn (COFN)

The Committee on the Fetus and Newborn studies issues and current advances in fetal and neonatal care; makes recommendations regarding neonatal practice; collaborates with the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to consider perinatal and neonatal issues on which the concerns of those in obstetrics and neonatology merge. COFN also works cooperatively with ACOG on new editions of Guidelines for Perinatal Care.

Licensure, Accreditation, Certificate and Education (LACE) Work Group

Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) have expanded in numbers and capabilities over the past several decades and have become a highly valued and integral part of the healthcare system. The licensure, accreditation, certification and education of APRNs need to be effectively aligned in order to continue to ensure patient safety while expanding patients’ access to APRNs. The creation of the LACE Network has been identified as one of the critical components for successful implementation of the Consensus Model for APRN Regulation by 2015. American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Perinatal Pediatrics

The Section on Perinatal Pediatrics is the home organization for specialists in neonatal-perinatal medicine and also welcomes affiliate members working in related disciplines. The section's highest priority is to ensure the optimal health and well-being of babies and mothers, which is accomplished through its core activities in the realms of advocacy, education, outreach, and support of clinicians and researchers.
